• This page provides information for personnel at Pathology Centres about collecting and submitting samples from patients who are enrolled in our NHMRC-funded research project Troublesome Ticks.

  • This research project has a contractual agreement with the following pathology services:

    • Healius Limited, including:

  • In some circumstances the patient will already have the collection instructions and sampling kit ( containing all necessary tubes ) with them and will give them to you for use.

  • If you have not previously collected for us, then you will require the instructions and the project-specific pathology submission forms that have been developed with your company. These can be sent to you by email or fax during business hours by calling our Project Manager (Michelle) on 1300 817070.

  • For your information, the samples that we require are, in order, as follows:

    • 1 x PAXgene tube = 2.5ml (only when the patient presents with a pre-packaged collection kit),

    • 1 x Sodium heparin (green top tube) = 2ml,

    • 3 x EDTA (lilac top) 2ml tubes,

    • 1 x SST (yellow top tube) = 3.5ml, and

    • 1 x SST (yellow top tube) = 8.5ml.

  • The samples must be sent to the closest laboratory for onward processing. Details are provided in the pathology submission forms and documents.
